On this Amantani Island Tour, you will have the opportunity to visit three magnificent islands in one day. The tour is ideal for people with little time in the Lake Titicaca area and in good physical condition.
You will be able to know the floating islands of Uros that are located within the bay of Lake Titicaca just 14 km away from the city of Puno (20 to 30 minutes of navigation).
Researchers have concluded that the Uros were one of the oldest ethnic groups that populated the Altiplano region in the Andes. The main activities of the inhabitants of this town were based as fishermen and bird hunters. This group preferred to remain isolated from civilizations on land.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Puno – Los Uros Island – Amantani
We will start the tour with pick up at your hotel at 7.30 am. Then we will go to the port where the boats leave for the famous floating islands of the Uros. Already in the floating islands our guide will explain the interesting history of the islands and the local culture.
We will continue the Amantani Island Tour for approximately three hours. Here a member of a local family awaits us to take us to his house for lunch.
In the afternoon you can go for a walk to the top of the island to observe the beautiful sunset of Lake Titicaca.
Day 2: Amantani – Taquile – Puno
The day begins with a traditional breakfast prepared by the family and then we will say goodbye and continue with the trip to the island of Taquile (1 hour by boat), on the way we will be able to see beautiful landscapes that surround Lake Titicaca.
We will continue the trip walking to the top of the island where we will have the opportunity to visit the artisan markets of the town and see the different chullos made by the men of the island.
Before leaving the island we will have lunch one of the typical dishes with a spectacular view of the lake.
After descending the 538 stone steps we will take our boat back to the city of Puno.
