Visit the ancient capital of the Inca empire, experience the magical mix of this city between the traditions and history of the Incas along with the traditions and history of the Spanish. The City Tour includes a visit to Saqsayhuamán archaeological park, the Main Square of Cusco, the Cathedral of Cusco, the temple of Q’oricancha, Q’enqo, Puca Pucará and Tambomachay. Also we will visit the main religious sites in Cusco.
Itinerary:
We will meet you in the lobby of your hotel at 1:00 PM to start this City Tour of Cusco. From here, you will go to the Plaza de Armas in Cusco, where you will visit the famous cathedral (entrance: S / 25 not included in the tourist ticket). After touring this sacred church, you will continue on foot with your group through an ancient street built by the Incas from the Plaza de Armas to Q’oricancha, the Temple of the Sun (entrance fee: S / 15 is not included in the tourist ticket) In the Q’oricancha you will see the clash between Inca culture and Catholicism, and you will see first hand the difference in construction methods. The construction of the Incas here is surprising, as this was the key spiritual center of the Inkas from which all roads lead from the four neighborhoods of the Inka Empire. There is a high altar made of bronze as a highlight.
From Q’oricancha, your group will walk along Avenida El Sol, where you will take your bus to get out of the city. The 25-minute trip takes you to the majestic Inca site Sacsayhuamán with its enigmatic monoliths weighing up to 200 tons. Your guide will offer you an explanation of this phenomenal site and you will have additional time to explore a little on your own.
From Sacsayhuaman site it is a 5 minute bus ride to Q’enqo site with its fascinating Inca altars, then another 5 minute drive to Puca Pucara, a small circular Inka site. The last stop on our tour is Tambomachay, an aquatic temple that the Incas used for bathing, with its impressive water sources. Then we will return to Cusco, where the City Tour ends in the main plaza
