South Valley Cusco Tour

This tourist circuit takes you to visit Tipón, Pikillacta and the beautiful Andahuaylillas chapel “this archaeological site is one of the oldest in Peru”. The Southern Valley in Cusco is one of the best tourist options after exploring Machu Picchu. During this excursion, you will visit the Sistine Chapel of America.

Itinerary:

We will pick you up from your hotel at 7:45 a.m. for a half day tour in the South Valley.

Our first stop will be Tipon. Located east of Cusco, these Inca ruins are believed to have been a park for the upper class or an agricultural center. This large area contains 12 impressive terraces. More impressive is the irrigation system that still works and continues to water the crops to this day! We will spend about an hour in Tipon. Next, we go to Pikillaqta.

Pikillaqta presents characteristics of a pre-Inca main urban center that was important for the development of the Huari Empire. In this ancient city, you can see colcas (food depots), athletic fields, houses, temples, narrow streets, and buildings up to four stories high. We will spend about an hour here. Then, we continue to Andahuaylillas.

Andahuaylillas is a typical Andean town with a unique architecture. It stands out for its colonial Catholic church with beautiful decorations and wall paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is known as the Sistine Chapel of Cusco. We will spend about an hour here. We will return to Cusco around 1:30 p.m.
